17085581...no idle screws ?
« on: July 02, 2014, 06:18:50 PM »
Was given two quadrajets by a friend.  One of them is 17085581.  I know those "late" carbs had non adjustable (sealed) idle mixture screws, but could it be some did not have screws at all ?  First I thought they were sealed and yes they are, but the hole in the bore shows no sign of the end of the screw being there and that hole is oh so tiny.  Transfer slot seems longer than usual also.  Is this a good candidate to rebuild and put in service or should I shoot for a 77-78-79 unit ?

The other one I was given is a 7043202 and I can't seem to find the application.  It seems to have the early external APT adjustement, which is sealed as well.

   Frank.

Yeah, I have one just like yours. Cliff may be able to shed some light on that.

As far as the 7043202 is concerned, that came off the Chevrolet/GMC K10 and K20 350cid A/T truck.
