Need kit
« on: August 11, 2015, 07:35:10 PM »
Cliff,

Car’s back on the road after quite a hiatus! Taken off the road (2002) and served as my bracket racer for apx five years (2007). (Double duty from 1997 to 2002) Car ran pretty consistent 12.30 ish on slicks. Decided 9 years sitting was enough: changed out some suspension stuff and put plates on it recently!

Need a kit….Below is specs. Looking for a HP kit, (7045229)  jets (74’s) primary 44 rods. Looking at recipe 2. 74’s may be a tad much, but don’t have the appropriate metering rods in my collection and you have the 44’s!

81 Z28 apx weight 3100-3200 lbs street dressed
383 (30 over) 9.5 to 1
XE274 230/236 110LSA   Roller rockers 1.5 (Shifted @ 6200, but cam was was nosing over)
World Product Sportsman heads
Edelbrock Performer RPM manifold
Currently has massaged 750 double pumper, 1” spacer    12-13” vacuum @ idle (750ish in gear)
Hooker Comp headers, 3” Torque Tech pipes, Flowmasters
MSD 6AL/ HEI
TH350, 3000 stall
4.56’s are coming out this week for 3.42’s (56’s are fun, but highway speeds are hellish!) Will probably lower stall over winter.
Will also utilize 1” spacer with Qjet as I have a homemade cowl induction set-up for the Harwood 4” cowl hood

Early on ran a quadrajet, but was a little more difficult to tune quickly while at the track, so switched to the Holley. Well the Holley is not ideal for street duty as was set up for the track many years ago (fastest et/mph)

Car will only see street use from here out.

Built car myself, so have a clue but would appreciate your thoughts and or suggestions. (ie, which pp spring, jet size appropriate etc, etc.)

Thanks, Eric

PS: Do have a 17057274 (yep, know you use that) but the unit above is a cleaner install!

The Chevy carb will work fine for what you are doing.  When you get time call the shop and we can help by supplier the correct parts for what you are doing.  We're here 8am-4pm, M-F EST.....tks...Cliff
