Just a reminder to anyone who sends a carburetor to the shop for repair, rebuilding, restoration, etc.
Make sure to include a note WITH THE CARBURETOR.
In that note include:
RETURN SHIPPING INFORMATION
PHONE NUMBERS
ALL OF THE ENGINE/DRIVETRAIN/VEHICLE SPECS
WHY IT IS HERE (REBUILDING, RESTORATION, CUSTOM TUNING, ETC)
It sounds pretty basic but at this point about 1 carb in 3 is showing up with little more than a name on the shipping label. Half the time that name is the guy or gal who worked at the shipping service you used.
Folks assume if you put a name on or in the box, that I can go into our emails and find out all the information we need. They forget that even though their name is "John Smith", that their email address is ilove57chevies@yahoo.com, so I have NO idea how to find all the needed information to work on their carb.
We put ALL of these carburetors to the side. Days or weeks later, the owner will call and ask us what the status of their build is, and we have to tell them that we haven't touched it, because we don't have all their information.
They IMMEDIATELY remind me of all the correspondence via emails and such, so we're already got started on the wrong foot with their job.
It sounds like a very simple thing, and you'd think anyone sending anything out for repairs would include ALL of their information with it, but the Internet has changed that line of thinking, most folks just assume because they have talked to the shop doing the work a few times that they will know everything about their job when the work shows up.......Cliff
