7042240 parts for rebuild
« on: October 05, 2016, 10:37:33 AM »
Hi,

I have a Qjet 7042240 from a 72 Riviera 455 that I'm rebuilding.  The carb will go on a mild 71 Buick 455 with 360ish horsepower. Would like to get in upper 300s. I did buy a kit from another company quadrajetparts.com a while back... Sorry, my mistake!

I'm looking for the following parts and any suggestions:

2 idle mixture screws
1 power piston spring
1 plastic secondary cam and spring
? Needle/seat assembly- Have one with the kit but not sure what size.

I currently have hanger N and CT medium rods in this carb. Maybe try DA medium?

The car is currently running with carb 7040240 a 1970 455
This carb had CK long tips and tried AX long rods as well. Haven't track tested it yet to know which works best.
Car runs 14.4 at 93 mph with this setup now.

Thank you!

Matt

You should call Cliff at his shop.  He can fix you up with the parts you need.

Thanks Mark.  I was going to but thought I read about putting it on the forum. I'll just call.

Correct, call the shop to order parts.

You will need a high flow N/S assembly to feed the big 455.  We stock the other items, although I would also recommend getting one of our accl pump assemblies.  The seal on them is NOT the same as what others are using, and will not fail in this new fuel, also comes with a lifetime warranty......Cliff
