Hi, recently I rebuild a reman. Qjet for my buddy recently.
http://cliffshighperformance.dreamhosters.com/simplemachinesforum/index.php?topic=259.0He had serious rattle/pinging even under light load.
The carb is now set up to recipe 1, but with slightly larger DCR and idle tubes. ( did not do anything to them during rebuild )
The engine now runs great... for the first 10 miles, then it starts to rattle again. Like when it gets to operating temperature...
The car has a stock filter with return line on it, between the pump and the carb ( something original for a 69 Corvette apparently )
When he puts his worn Holley Vac. on the engine, he just runs a hose from the fuel-pump ( mechanical ) without this filter/return, and the engine never rattles. I just heard about this filter recently, so I hope the filter is to blame.
Have anyone had experience with these filters causing less fuel-flow?
Or could the carb just be so bad, that it can not be rebuild properly?
