I'm glad you are happy with it.

Consider this.  You could have went 10.6 to 1 compression with tight quench, 10 degree more cam at .050", pushed the LSA out to 112 or so, and it would idle just as good, drive just as good, and much stronger upper mid-range and top end power, plus it would make another 50-80hp.

I consider 9.6 to 1 compression pretty "low" for a 350 SBC build, especially one with modern combustion chambers.

Compression is your friend with the Vortec heads, and with the right cam mid 10 to 1 compression on pump gas is not a problem at all, we've built a bunch of them.

I actually prefer the World Products Sportsman heads over the Vortec, much thicker, excellent combustion chambers, and come with big valves, screw in studs, guide plates, and 200cc intake runners......FWIW......Cliff
