Hi
am a new member, I have a cam selection question for us old school high comp engine guys I have a 65 389 pontiac with #77 heads with 10.75 comp, It has the four barrel #067 cam in it and it will run on 93 octane. I would like to get a little more cam for street only. So here is my question all the cams you hear about are for 400-455 or low comp engines. Comp xe cams are made to increase cyln pressure and the lobe seperation is around 110. MY present cam is around 114. I was looking at the 068 cam because i know it is used in the same car with tri power. Is there any other cams out there us old guys can use? cliff stated the 60916 cam is close to the 068 but he used it in a 400 with lower comp. How would it run in a 389 with high comp? He also stated i would have to install it 4 degres advance to get the lobe septeration to 108-110 to get full benefit this will cause cyln pressure that it cant afford. I have a 4100 mile lower end and don't want to change pistons so any info on other cams i might use as all the cams are for newer low comp gas friendly engines. Any info is appreciated Don
