spread bore to square bore adaptor options for the Quadrajet

Putting an adaptor on a square bore so I  can run a Quadrajet seems like a BAD idea...

I am in the process of gathering parts to put a stock L31 (1996 350, 255HP/330LB-Ft) which has vortec heads on it.  I would like to use a PerformerRPM on this engine... but it only offered in a square bore carb flange.

What to do? Get a Performer RPM Q-jet model, and adapt it to the vortec heads?

Or weld/ Build up carb mounting pad on the square bore vortec..?

What would you do?

Sometimes you have to use an adapter. Here's some pics of what I've used. I tapered the entrance to the intake so the transition wouldn't be so steep.

Thank You Jim, That looks like a better solution than I could have imagined. I shall proceed to find a vortec style manifold, and then consider what type of adaptor to use.
