Would an 83 chevy 4bbl Q-jet electric choke be compatible to put on a 78 or 79 M4MC carb?

Yes, omit the gasket, so the choke housing can act as a ground, and I believe you are all set.

You must block the vacuum supply to the choke housing when converting a hot-air choke to an electric choke. I see folks fail to do this all the time and sucking unfiltered air into their engines.......Cliff
