#17057229 on a +060 350
« on: November 17, 2018, 06:03:18 PM »
combo first, +060 350, 10.7/1 squish is very tight, tighter than I will say on the internet, ported #462's 245@.500 with 2.02s and 1.60s, isky 280 mega hyd, 232@.050 single pattern on 108, in at +4,  .512 with 1.6 in. rockers, .485 ex. Team G street ram single plane, blocked heat risers timing will be around 16-18 initial, 36-38 total, depending on what makes it happy, vacuum advance to spark ported source, 3800 FTI lock up converter, 200-4r and 4.11s, light car, 3100 with driver. Cam/engine combo advice is neither solicited, nor appreciated, not even close to my first rodeo.
Idle vacuum should be around 12"@around 750 in gear.
Not much prior experience with Q-jets, but this is a daily driver build, so I would like to give one a shot. My core is a #17057229.
I believe oem calibrations as follows
DCR'S are .050
IFR's .030
Upper AIB .070
Lower .063
MAB .050
Idle bypass .125
Pri. Rods 39b
Jets 64
Sec. Tube restriction.032
Sec rods DG
Current hanger is M, from what I find online, I think its been changed, should be a J?

Proposed baseline changes are opening the IFR's to .035, 40b primary rods with 40 jets, with a 1 5/32 15 coil spring, keep the DG secondary rods, drill the shooters to .033, .135 needle and seat.
Any thoughts re:baseline calibration? Anybody see anything wrong here? Any suggestions for a baseline hanger?
40B with 40 jets will be close on cruise, or too lean?

Sorry, proposed primary jets are clearly a typo, should be 70, NOT 40. Sorry about that.

Another factor that affects calibration that I forgot to mention, sealed cold air package, two 4" tubes ducted through the rad support.

Nice carb for what you are doing, should be early SMAB divorced choke style.

Engine combo looks fine to me, but build the same engine at 9.5 to 1 and it would be a complete TURD everyplace.  Most folks with little real experience just throw chit together and don't understand CID vs static compression ratio vs camshaft specs (seat timing, LSA, ICL, etc).

You will need a few items for it, no problem helping out and getting the calibration nailed down right out of the gate.

Take some time and free-up the APT screw in the baseplate and remove it.  We have custom external ones that we make here.  Once that is done call the shop and we'll set you up with everything needed for a perfect end result......tks.....Cliff
