Which power piston spring should I use?
« on: June 30, 2010, 04:16:08 PM »
Hi Cliff,

Just got the kit and it's mostly installed except for the power piston spring. There are four in the kit (Blue, Orange, Green and Black) and I'm hoping you can advise me which one will work best for my application.

The car is a '76 Trans-Am with a mild street 455 (270 degree cam), Performer intake, 2004R automatic and 3.90 gears.

PS: Do you sell secondary metering rods and hangars? My carb has "CE" stamped secondary metering rods and hangar tamped "J." What do you think about these? Should I swap them out? If yes, which rods/hangar should I get?

Thanks!

-Eric Peters

I'd install the light blue spring, and a set of our .044" secondary metering rods.  CH's are a bit lean for your set-up.....Cliff

Yeah, I read that one, and also remember from the past that the light blue one is for high vacuum applications, but am I getting this mixed up here?? In my head the weakest spring would be for low vacuum engines...

Of course I could just find and old factory one from a scrap unit... I am still confused! :-)
