Should secondaries open all the way?
« on: August 31, 2022, 06:55:18 AM »
Rebuilt quadrajet is installed on my '75 Cadillac Eldorado. When the accelerator pedal is fully depressed, the secondaries are not 90 degrees vertical - they're maybe 80% of that. Is that normal? If not, what should I do to adjust? The accelerator cable is aftermarket and may not be exact OEM size (should be within an inch though), so that might impact things a bit. Interested in any thoughts y'all may have.

Some say vertical & some say inline with the baffle.

Are the primary throttle blades opening fully 90* ? If so that rules out
your throttle cable.
If the secondaries are anywhere between vertical
and the baffle they should be OK.

If adj. is necc. you will have to bend the little tab behind the bellcrank.
It will require a stout pair of needle nose and some effort.

Thank you for the thoughts and info! I'm pretty happy with how it's running, so probably not going to overthink it. I did find an OEM accelerator cable and installed it.
