Vent air screw
« on: April 25, 2023, 09:56:50 AM »
Hello all,

I have a couple 1966 carbs here that came with my 1966 Toronado. One is the original 7036250 (AIR, California car) and the other appears to be a 66' serv replacement carb.

My original has what I think is an idle air bleed adjustment screw under a triangular metal clip that is retained around the vent tube on the top of the air horn. If I'm not mistaken, I believe this is the only difference between the AIR Qjet air horn (7036250) and the non-AIR air horn Qjet (7026250) for 1966.

My service replacement carb doesn't have this screw. What is the point of this screw? I don't see any adjustment specs for it in the Delco manual so I was wondering where it should be set? Also, how much of an issue would it be using a carb on my engine without that adjustment?

Thanks!

Your picture shows a "remanufactured" carb, signs are glass-blasted no surface protection left, 2GC accelerator checkball spring retainer in vent hole, phillips-headed screws. Who knows what´s inside?

Anyway here are some info on the off-idle adjustment screw under the triangular washer:

That picture is just stock internet photo off of ebay......it just depicted the carb area better than any photo I had so I just used that one. My carbs are in much better shape.

Thx!
