Hard start after overnight or longer
« on: November 28, 2010, 12:16:34 PM »
Carb is on a 70 corvette and has been rebuilt by Cliff.................For some reason it still drains down overnight and I have to crank it for a while to fill the bowl and then it fires right up.

I have a vented cap on the tank and the motor is fresh with new fuel pump (mech)

There are only 3 ways fuel can leave the carb, evaporation, draining back, or leaking at the bottom plugs.  We pressure test and seal up the castings during rebuilding to prevent leakage.  This new fuel doesn't stick around long, but I would think it would still be there overnight.  Two ways to prevent drain back, install a filter with a check valve in it, or remove the tiny clip from the needle assembly.....Cliff

Disregard the last message, I found one at the auto parts store.
