Dripping at idle still!
« on: September 06, 2024, 06:21:54 PM »
I have a marine quadrajet # 17080562 on a Mercruiser 260 hp inboard. I have soaked the carb overnight in berrymans, used a rebuild kit with new needle and seat and float.set the float at 1/4 inch. The carb runs great at 1000,2000,3000 rpm but I can’t get it to stop leaking fuel out the Venturi at idle . Timing is set exactly 8 degrees as per spec. I seem to have a limited idle circuit.when adjusting idle mixture screws below about 1 turn engine starts to stall out. I have cleaned the idle pickup tubes by using a small wire and then blasting with carb cleaner. I installed a fuel pressure regulator and have it set at 5 psi. Do you think the idle pickup tubes need to be replaced? I will gladly buy some from you if I can fix this frustrating problem. I have had the carb apart at least 7 times. Thank you

Did you put one of my Marine rebuild kits in it?
