1967 Quadrajet 7027262 carb. new one on me, Help!!

Doing a basic rebuild on a quadrajet carb. above mentioned. When i took top off and flipped it over i see something i never saw before, center large tubes are intact but ends are smashed sommewhat closed and the other discharge holes where the pick -up tubes should be are soldered up. Small holes leading up to the top are there, should i heat the top area up and take out solder and install the large tubes there also.New one on me for sure!

I would NOT try to melt out the solder.  Very carefully drill it out instead, then add the POE tubes and make sure all the holes are open.

We've seen quite a few 1968 Chevy q-jets that didn't use the secondary POE system, but we always add it too them when building them here......Cliff

Cliff, really funny, all the holes are there, i melted one side out in 15 min and some patience, according to my no. drill set looks like about .046 up thru. Really don,t know what somebody was try to do here, thought i saw it all so far, NOT, Fun of doing things yourself, i guess.

Cliff after further examination of the main body i looked at upper air bleeds that sit down in the venturi , it looks like somebody installed coper plugs and redrilled them to .050 according to my drill size, your book states .070, be ok to go that big???

I would get some of our custom screw in airbleeds, tap the casting and airhorn, and return the unit to the stock sizes with the bleeds at the correct depth......Cliff
