1985 mustang holley
« on: February 14, 2011, 09:38:15 PM »
I REBUILT THE STOCK HOLLEY ON MY 1985 MUSTANG, WORKS GREAT BUT THERE SEEMS TO BE SURGE AT A STEADY PART THROTTLE POSITION, LIKE A LEAN SURGE. THE EGR VALVE VACUUM LINE IS DISCONNECTED AND CAPPED. THE CARB HAS A 2 STAGE POWER VALVE STOCK. DOES THIS CARB NEED A BIGGER PRIMARY JET? I KNOW THE GAS TODAY ISN'T AS POTENT AS THE STUFF AVAILABLE IN 1985. THANKS

Most likely it needs more fuel at cruise.  Those carburetors were extremely lean anyhow, and designed to operate with all of the emission control devices in place and operational.  If it isn't completely "stock" everyplace, plan on doing some custom tuning.....Cliff
