Saturday we went to the Super Chevy show in Houston and wound up bringing home 4 more carbs. The swap meets are my favorite part. From one guy I bought 3 for $15 (their #'s are 7040200, 17058229, and the only apt unit, a 17080204. All 3 of these look well used and very dirty, but I couldn't pass them up. The other one I bought for $15 from another guy. This is a 7043202 and it is an original piece that is beautiful. It looks like someone must have taken it off their car when still new and put it on a shelf. It's dusty and the choke flap and secondary flaps are a little corroded, but it is super nice. I'm thinking about building this one for my car since it is much more period-correct than my current 77 apt setup. Is it any more work getting good results out of one these older carbs or should I just stick to the newer apt units? So far I've done a dozen or so rebuilds, but they've all been newer apt carbs. I haven't taken it apart so I don't know what jets or rods it has. What do you think this originally came on?
