Help resetting the ATP on a 17082234 Carb

The carb was pulled to rebuild. before removing the idle screws and ATP screw I counted to the seat and everything seemed normal until I got to the ATP. It was turned out 5 1/2 turns, which maybe the reason for all my issues in the beginning. It is on an 1985 Chevy C10 1/2 ton, sbc 350, TH350 trans, performer intake, and RV/Towing cam. I am needing to know what the factory ATP setting might be or at least where it should be setup for my truck. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

welcome aboard. a good starting point is about 3 turns on most rigs i work on.if you tell us what kind of problems you were or are having someone should be able to help.i found the best way to tune the apt is with a vacumn guage in the cab and driving down the road. other people do it different.thats why some people take the quadrajet off because they cant get them tuned properly. ill say this a properly tuned  quad is hard to beat in both performance and fuel mileage.

 I would go with the way Cliff does it in his book. Cannot remember what page it is on, but is quoted in his book. Welcome to CHP!

Thanks for the help and suggestions. Thank you for the warm welcomes too. I hope I can learn a lot here, I know very little about these carbs, but more I can learn, the more I can do on my own and have the satisfaction of knowing I can do it again and have done it myself(with some help from others more knowledgeable).
