Plating
« on: December 24, 2011, 02:00:55 PM »
 Cliff,
What type of plating do you do? I know you do plating for the main housing and airhorn. Do you also do plating for linkage parts too? How much does that usually run to do all linkage?

 Thank you,
 Ethan

Hi,
Was going to give a call after the holidays with some plating questions as well. Do the choke & secondary flaps get plated?
Does the choke flap & shaft need removed from airhorn?
Do the tubes need removed from airhorn prior to plating?

Thanks

 73ss,
I see he does electroplating to the smaller parts.

I have a nother question, to add to ours.

I have a hard to find part on my Qjet. It is almost like a rear choke pull-off. Will electroplating effect the plastic part of it, Cliff? Also, do you do the same for the flaps/butterflies?

 Thank you,
 Ethan

Pic of a finished unit showing the plating process that we use here.  The main casting and airhorn are zinc/chromated, the small parts are electroplated.

We charge $45 to do a main casting and airhorn, $125 for the whole deal......Cliff

 Cliff,
Would the electroplating effect plastic? I have a hard-to-find part on my Cadillac carb and part of its plastic. The rod and bracket needs to be replated and there attached to the part. I cannot remove the bracket and rod linkage without destroying the plastic part. That is why I'm wondering if the electroplating would effect it.

 Thanks.

Thanks for the info.

Ethan, I believe the vacuum part you are referring to was used to speed up the idle when the A/C was turned on. I once had a 472 caddy with the same setup on it..

Oh, ok. I wondered what that part was used for. Thank you. The part still holds vacuum well for a 40 year old carb.  ;D

Do you also recolor Rochester Two-Jet's (2-bbl)? Electroplate as well? Do you clean base plate, too? Thank you!

 Cliff,
I need my 2-bbl #7040436 re-cholored, the small parts replated and one screw on the throttle plate to be drilled out an retapped. How much would this cost total? Do you need me to call the shop? Thank you and have a nice day! :D
