Tuning advise
« on: June 22, 2013, 11:06:52 AM »
I know very little about Qjets other then how to take them apart and put it back together. I have a 17085226 off of my 85 K5. I want to put it on my street/strip truck. Here are the specs of my truck.
 406 sbc aprox 10.7:1/400+ hp
12cc dished pistons
63 cc Edelbrock RPM heads
RPM air gap intake
Comp cam solid roller cam
280/280 with .550/.550 lift
TCI street fighter TH350
14 bolt 5 lug 3.73 rear end.

I have rebuilt the Qjet and done the bottom leak check and bushing mod. Just need some ideas on rod and jets etc.

Did you install one of our kits with the HP accl pump assembly and high flow needle/seat assembly?

It's going to need idle system modifications and some jetting improvements as well.  Excellent carburetor BTW....Cliff

I haven't yet but it is at the top of my list this payday. I'm guessing your book also has info on the idle system mods? Any suggestions on assortment of jets to try? I'd like to order them the same time I order the HP kit etc.

Take the carb apart, it should have "M" series primary rods which you will use over.  We will up the jet size one or two numbers, depending on what's in there, and smaller secondary metering rods.....Cliff

Sounds great.  Marie is off the next two days, here by myself.  If I don't answer, leave a message and good phone number and I'll call you back.  Folks buying stuff get called back first, those wanting me to crawl thru the phone and fix their stuff when the bought all their parts somewhere else..........may not get a call back at all!....LOL.....Cliff
