Carter Carb?
jac42779:
Hello,
I just registered and am enjoying all the info on this forum. I have a 67 Camaro with a 327 that is all stock as far as I know. I just ordered your book on Quadrajets and look forward to reading it and rebuilding my carb. After looking at the carb, it is mfg. by Carter and the number on it is 4447S with G1 under that number.
Any chance this is the original carb and is it the same quality as the carb's built by quadrajet? Cliff can you also tell me what parts I need to order to do a complete rebuild on this carb.
Thanks!

Welcome to CHP!
4447S was used on the '67 327cid Chevrolet engine. The G1 is the date code, which indicates July, 1971. So, this is probably a Service Replacement carb.

Can someone tell me what this carter number would be close to in the Rochester built carbs?

I believe the 4447S is a 4MV carburetor. Are you trying to find the correct carb for your application? What is the HP rating on the 327cid? I believe some of the '67 327s came with a 2-bbl. Could be wrong though.
