Carb rebuilt and on running(need some timing advice)
« on: August 08, 2013, 07:24:12 AM »
Hi; got the kit you sent and got the carb re built. Before I start on messing w/screws I need to know if possibly I need to change the install procedure we used when we put the dist back in! The instructions say to line up the timing mark 5 deg. btdc w/#1 at top and drop dist in . I'm not sure if that was done or at tdc. and #1 up. I put an Edelbrock perf and 2157 cam kit in a 76 350 Pont. 6x4 heads dual exh. with a 17080272 q/jet with your kit installed. The guy gave me a print out on some adj. that may be needed yet . I went back through the installation inst. and came across this . I'm in the process of rechecking timing an hooking up vac gauge ,the only adj. I made so far was fast idle and curb idle . It still has a stumble/hesitation when taking off and I don't want to mess the settings he has up if I should be looking at something else. I've only driven around 2 times a short dist but it was up to temp. Thanks for any suggestions !

You can adjust the distributor with a timing light afterwards, although 5* initial timing is pretty minimal and could cause some low end hesitations (unless the mechanical advance is really light!).
