Brand New 17085212 - Rebuild before using?
« on: March 26, 2014, 10:39:26 AM »
Hi Guys,

Today I bought a brand new, in-the-box 17085212 - it was apparently sitting unused in the back of an old auto shop for the last decade or two.  This quad is intended for a 1988 Chevy P30 Motorhome - wanted to see what you guys thought I should rebuild/replace before using?  Top priority for me is best possible MPG.

Thanks,
Marshall

It's not a "new" carburetor, it has been commercially "remanufactured".  All the finish and plating is gone, and it will need new internals installed, as they didn't use the correct parts, or very high quality parts for those right to start with.  It may also have a "generic" calibration in it.  The motor home carburetors used special primary metering rods and calibration for the big 454 engines, hopefully all those items are still in place.....Cliff

Dang, that's a bummer but thank you for the reality check. If the internals end up not being correct - can I purchase the correct versions through you Cliff?
