Which carb to use?
Mark R:
Hi, I have three carbs to choose from, a 7027202, 17058284, and a 17056208.
All are currently in stock condition, but I have Cliff's book but not sure which recipe to use ?
My engine is a sbc 355, 10:1, World S/R heads, 170cc runners, solid lifter cam 241* & 249*@ .050
.520", .540" lift intake and exhaust, Victor jr + 1" open spacer, 34*- 36* of timing, 2800-3200 stall, headers, 3.73 rear. Summit 140gph fuel pump.
The car weighs 3750 lbs. Mostly sees strip but is driven to the track and back.
Thanks

I would use the 17058284 carb. Which one look's the best to you.
Mark R:
Is there any reason you suggest that carb? That one is in working order the others are apart I was just thinking that one might be a better canidate for the modifications found in Cliff's book.
Cliff Ruggles:
I agree on the choice, use the later model carb, and/or the one in the best overall condition. Forget the early 1967 unit, they are best for restorations, not for high performance work.
When selecting a carburetor, keep in mind that any calibration can be installed into any casting (non computer controlled). This helps in the selection process. Choose the carburetor based on fuel inlet location, throttle linkage, type of choke, vacuum fittings, etc.
Then completely/correctly rebuild the carb, and calibrate it exactly for the application. We sell complete HP kits and tuning parts to help out....Cliff
Mark R:
Thanks Cliff, do you still sell the drill bits?
I think for my first attempt I am going to try it out on the 76' unit.
Thanks
