Junkyard Q-jet
« on: January 12, 2016, 07:15:53 PM »
Found and pulled a Q-jet from an early 70's pickup.  The carb is next to impeccable, problem (to me) is that the choke is non-electric and can't be converted to electric.  What options do I have for me to run a choke on an intake without hot air provision?  Thanks.

What is the part number? Try searching for a late 70s Chevrolet. There are thousands out there and cheap.

Anyone ever try one? (Link in prev post). I was thinking of one of those so I can ditch the restrictive heat riser valve.

That is a pretty darn clever electric choke conversion!  My intake, however, lacks the mounting boss.  I am considering a cable activated choke.

I always like using a manual choke on my carbs.I like having control over the choke and they work great on Q-jets once it starts and runs good you can open it up and it stays on fast idle till you tap the gas. That electric kit does look cool I have never seen one but it doe,s look like you need the boss for it.
