Quadrajet running very lean
« on: December 11, 2016, 04:29:28 PM »
Hi there my names Dusty, the problem I'm having is with a quadrajet I just recently rebuilt with cliffs hp kit, the truck runs ok in warm weather but you can tell its still lean, but in cold weather like it is now the truck has a severe bog off idle to about 1/4 pedal and has a miss at cruising speed the problem stays the same even after its at operating temperature and the truck has no power at all, I've adjusted the apt from 1.5 turns to 6.5 turns and it seems to have alittle to no affect on the problem, the question I got is it possible I used the wrong power piston spring, I used the orange one from the hp kit and the truck runs 17 vacuum at idle, the specs on the engine are

496 bbc with brodix race rite oval port heads running 10.1 compression, comp xr264hr-10 cam, edelbrock performer intake and dual exhaust with headers,

the carb is a #17057512 with 77 jets and 44 metering rods, and the orange power piston spring

any help yall could give me would greatly be appreciated

Dusty, the PP spring isn't going to make any difference.

Didn't we set you up recently with smaller MAB's and different jets to put some more fuel to that engine?......Cliff
