fuel misting from vent tube
« on: December 26, 2016, 02:54:14 PM »
I have been having some intermittent issues with a small hesitation on acceleration.  The problem seems to come and go as it pleases. First I thought it may be a timing advance too far but all looks good with total timing set at 34.  Observations

1.Hesitation on take off full throttle
2. Seems that carb is running out of gas on a hard take off.  Accelerates good for a few seconds then stumbles and regains
3. Went for a cruise without breather, noticed fuel misting from front vent tube as I gas it
4. Noticed some dieseling on shut down

The carb was rebuilt about a year ago with Cliff's kit.  1977 Pontiac

Do you have a divider in place behind the choke housing?

It may be pushing some fuel out the vent just behind the choke flap on hard take-offs.....Cliff

You're referring to a divider in airhorn or body forward of choke flap?  Fairly confident that it is there.  Would have to tear down again to be for certain.

No tearing down needed, what he's talking about is outside, held by two screws, just by the air cleaner stud.
