Secondary shaft bushing too tight?
« on: February 14, 2017, 08:45:05 PM »
So I decided to bush my secondary shafts since it started squeaking and sticking pretty bad.  Everything seemed to be going smoothly...I got the shafts drilled out and started to insert the bushings.  They seemed almost too big to fit into the holes I drilled, but I managed to tap them down in snuggly.  The problem is...now it seems they are too tight for the throttle shaft!  I have to really work it through them to even get the shaft all the way in and its almost too tight to turn!  What in the world happened?  I can easily slide the bushing over the shaft when they weren't installed, but it seems like now that they are in the holes its too tight!  Anything I can do to remedy this?

Push a long 3/8" drill bit thru them, if the bit will pass then the bushings are fine.  Once the bit is in place you can work it with a hand drill to help size the bushings and insure that the alignment is true.

It's not uncommon when installing bushings, front or rear to have a work a bit to get the shafts to fit......Cliff
