Need Opinions On This Divorced Choke Electric Choke Conversion

Hello Everyone,

Last year I had Cliff build me a custom Q-jet for my 1974 Corvette 350 engine with automatic transmission.  Currently the choke is stock and I was wondering if anyone has any feedback on this product http://www.carburetor-parts.com/Divorced-Choke-Electric-Choke-Conversion_p_3220.html

Also, if I go with this conversion, should I use block off plates on the stock intake manifold?

sorry, at times this forum can seem a bit sleepy because it isn't that busy...

I am not a fan of these;
I have heard of people that like them, but I'm a bit of a purist, in the sense that I like things to work the way they were intended to work - which for you means a bi-metal coil mounted on the intake which activates and deactivates the choke through engine heat...

Never used one so can't comment.

I use and prefer the stock divorced choke set-ups and all the parts are still available for them.

NEVER block the exhaust crossovers in the intake for anything street driven, bad idea no matter how many poorly educated folks on the Forum's regurgitate outdated information on that deal.

Same thing with not using a vacuum advance or installing a distributor that doesn't have one.....another horrible idea that costs the user a LOT of money in lost efficiency and additional fuel consumption.........Cliff

I have been giving some thought on trying one of these conversion kits also. I have a 68 vette with the 327, all stock and stock appearing. My goal is to ditch the restrictive heat riser valve. It narrows down to less than 2" ID. I held it open with some wire, but then the choke/fast idle stays on way too long, even in the summer months. I suspect it also contributes to boiling the fuel in the bowl with this new fuel. If I decide to give one a try this year, I'll post the results.
