Hi ; I've just picked up this carb and would like to use it on a 462 fresh build . I see it has a rebuild sticker on it with a Quality Re-manufacture tag with a # 16-249 and a date of 9/14/15. Is there a company named Quality Re-manufacture or is this a generic sticker used by rebuild comp.? I know it ran great on a 79 T/A w/a 400 but engine blew on it . Any info on this would help greatly !!! Thanks
Sonny:
It might be a rebuild by Champion Parts Inc.
A google search on that tag number returns a hit for 77 to 79 Trans Am, Including 77 with 2.93 Rear Axle.

Thanks for that info , from what I've found it appears to be a 800 cfm ? Is that possible ?
Cliff Ruggles:
Nice carb except been thru a commercial builder. I use the same part number on my own engine and to date NOTHING will make more power on the dyno or out-run it at the track. There has been many contenders over the years but the ugly 1977 Pontiac Q-jet is the winner.
It actually flows 850cfm if you set the air door angle as shown in my book.......Cliff

Thanks Cliff ; I did notice the sec throttle plates look like they don't open up at full throttle but that was just a quick observation . I haven't had a chance to look at closely but I assume they should open all the way ? Also I have to put an E/choke on it . Will one transfer from another carb that is nearly the same model by chance ? Thanks again Cliff and I cannot wait to get a chance to run it on my 462 .
