Cliff Ruggles:
Stock it's emission calibrated and would need some help to work well on your 455 build.

Remanufactured who knows?  They can be OK to PATHETIC in quality control and often "butchered" up some with lead plugs driven into the bypass air passages, and even the threads drilled out for the N/S assembly and some POS double "O" ring deal pressed in there.

I try to avoid anything commercially remanufactured if I can help it.

I would not mess with used E-chokes.  Every one I've installed has taken a dump so we quit putting them back in place several years ago to save customers a little money.  The few times I did they crapped out within a months or so and we ended up having to replace them with new ones.......Cliff

Thanks a bunch Cliff . It worked great on a 400 T/A but someone shipped the car to Mi. in the dead of winter and failed to put any A/freeze in it before it left Texas . It ran a very short time a couple times until the steam started . That's how I came up w/the q/jet . I wanted a carb to test my 462 on the dyno that I was pretty sure it ran . I don't have a car for the engine as of now but I wanted be sure it would run when I do get it in something . I was already getting the engine ready when I sold my Bird and I need something to get in and out of a little easier .

bober:
Hey guys : I have another question about this carb . I want to use it on a 72 iron intake and I would like to know if I should use a base gasket from the 77 or a 72 base gasket ? Thanks again !!!

Sonny:
I would first try the base gasket that matches the carb.

Cliff Ruggles:
I would use our 1/4" thick open gasket.

The later gasket isn't a good fit as it has the "D" shaped openings, and the 72 gasket is thin and 4 hole.

I used the 1/4" thick open gasket for those set-ups as it allows one side to see the other which helps some much like having an X or H pipe in the exhaust.....Cliff
