1969 SS396
« on: September 02, 2010, 08:44:26 AM »
Hi, I have a 69 SS 396 325HP with the original Q-jet. It does have a a 350 horse cam, Edelbrock 2-O intake and headers by previous owner. Just street driven with some speed blasts.
It has the usual leaky wells and I want to freshen it up. Should I need to change the jetting for better performance/drivability from stock? I want to get the parts on order.
Thanks

What is the carburetor number, and what size jets and metering rods are in the carburetor now?

Never assume anything is "stock", it's always best to take a look at what you have, then we can get the correct parts sent with the rebuild kit.

I see a LOT of older carburetors sent here for rebuilding.  Pretty common for parts to have been swapped out in them by well-meaning enthusiasts over the years.  I'd rather take a look at what's there, and get it right the first time....thanks.....Cliff
