Secondary flaps
« on: October 14, 2020, 10:24:21 AM »
Hi,

The q-jet was rebuilt two years ago along with having the distributor rebuilt with advanced timing (34 @ 2800 rpm) from two different companies.  Anyway, the car runs well but I'm wondering if the secondary flaps can open sooner for better performance.  My car is stock (low mileage car; 36k miles).  Any advice is appreciated.

For testing you may loosen the preload on air valves spring 1/8 turn at a time until it bogs then tighten 1/8 turn.
If you have CV, AU or CK secondary rods you might want to use a set of DA or CE.

Thanks for your reply.  I'll have to try this.  The second part of my question would be 'is this a worthwhile mod'?
