How much if any tuning will i need after a gear change
« on: February 11, 2023, 02:46:34 PM »
Been contemplating doing a gear change in my Nova. It currently has a th350 and 3.73 in it and cruises around town great minus the spool in the diff. But long highway trips are not something that i do in the car because it just seems like im revving its guts out to keep up with traffic. I have a 3.08 open i can throw in it to make it a little better on the highway, but i would really like to find a bracket set from an 80s car- and stick a 200-4r in it.
But anyway, other than maybe an apt adjustment what are the odds ill need to do a rod and jet change? It will be dropping 600 rpm or better at 65 so i know load and vacuum will change accordingly.

You didn't mention the quadrajet #. If it has Adjustable Part Throttle you should be able to eliminate any lean surging with an adjustment. If no APT I'd suggest talking to Cliff directly on metering rod & jet selection. Good luck.
