gasket question

I am going to be working on a Rochester 4me (electric choke, marine carb, from a shop in Fla, cough cough.
I am wondering why would the rebuilder install 2 top gaskets? the thin ones under the air horn. WHYYYYY.

this cant be normal. I dont recall there being 2 thin gaskets in my earlier years.

Who is the rebuilder?

Is it a real Marine carburetor or one of those POS automotive conversions from Ebay?

No reason to double up top gaskets but I've seen it done plenty of times.

Usually it's done because the top is warped more than the main body and there are gaps that needed filled so it seals effectively.

My Marine rebuild kits come with a main body to airhorn gasket that's .015" thicker and better material than a stock gasket.  It does a perfect job of sealing things up and I use it on all my builds here.......

Hello Cliff, we have discussed this carb before. And you educated me on what this is.  I do have your kit to refresh this carb. It us from flying fish carburetors in Fla. I had purchased this prior to joining this forum. Good to know your top gasket is thicker. 
Yep, it's a Franken carb from mid 80s truck with electric choke.
