1979 Q-Jet 17059247 (Buick/Pontiac/Olds)
« on: November 09, 2023, 06:51:09 AM »
I have an in-law who has several Quadrajet carbs in his shop, along with numerous Holly and Edelbrock carbs.  He said I can have any Q-Jets he has, and this is all new to me.  Anyway, I could only access one Q-Jet yesterday, and it appears to be from a 1979 Buick, Pontiac, or Olds.  I was going to post it here for sale, but I'm now wondering whether it is really worth rebuilding if I can get it to someone who needs it.  Looking online, I'm not sure if it's worth my effort to try to sell it, but I suppose it's possible that someone might want it if it's worth rebuilding.  If so, I'd probably just give it away, or maybe try to sell it at a swap meet.  Also, I'm hoping to find a correct rebuidable Q-Jet 7029207 (dated February-July 1969) for my '69 Corvette L46, so maybe there's a swap chance.  Since this is all new to me, I was just looking for general comments anyone here might have on possible next steps you might suggest for getting the '79 carb to someone or finding a good 7029207 carb core to rebuild for my car.  Thanks.

The 17059247 is a 1979 Buick carb. Aside from the "goofy" beak on the linkage it makes a nice HP carb and converts easily to electric choke.

Original dated 7029207's are difficult to find.  They made PLENTY of Service Replacement 7029207's so they are easy to find and not overly expensive to purchase....
