I am not sure that number is correct. Usually a carb with the "1705" prefix would be a 1976 to 1979 carb.
So the number does not make sense. Now if the number was 17059407, then that would make sense.
This would translate to a 1979, california emiss., chevrolet carb possibly behind a manual trans.
Look at the number  closer. (it is on the linkage side, vertically stamped, adjacent to the secondary part of the carb). If anything, I know with that number, it is not from a 71 firebird. A 71 firebird would be something like 7041267 or 7041264. Sorry I cant help more; need picture or more info.

ok, now I understand. I read the other post from Cliff. I am not too smart on the replacement carb number deciphering.   Well It sure looks like a Pontiac carb.  Looks kinda strange with that bowl vent
up front like that. (from what I can tell from the picture) I'll bet it's fairly rare.  Yeah, I think that will probably work.  I think it's a good candidate for you're Poncho motor if it looks rebuildable on the inside. The other Buick, Old's, Pontiac trademark is the straight forward fuel inlet (although some chevy BB's had them). Good luck and ENJOY!

Going by the picture, it's a 1971 Pontiac SR carb with some parts missing.  I'd look for a complete unit.....Cliff
