17080513- 2 choke pull offs

This might help some:
GSP7:
My main body clearly stamped # 17080213-1174CPX is part cast 17061829
doesnt even match those cast numbers on those sheets. Id conclude those sheets arent completely accurate

GSP7:
Edit above
My 17080213 julian date is 1174 CPX so my 1980 carb has produced/built in 1984.... Must be a service replacement carb

These are factory sheets and accurate.
The numbers on these sheets are for assembled cast units, and not numbers on the cast parts.
You will see the part numbers on specific parts that are the same for you two carbs, like the primary pull-off rod f.e. Quadrajets using only the rear pull-off as a primary pull-off does not use this rod.
As this rod is in the list for both your carbs means that both your carbs should have the slotted air valve shaft.

Cliff Ruggles:
Part number 17080213 saw continued use to at least 1984. Most were HD applications that I've seen.
Part numbers 17080212 and 1708213 came in several "flavors" far as choke pull-offs were concerned.
When you have a rear pull-off with two links it unloads the choke on a cold start and dampens the secondary air flaps. The models with only one link from the rear pull-off to the choke will have a front pull-off with a link to the secondary airflap shaft.
I've never been overly fond of the rear pull-off models for secondary air flat shaft control, but they can be made to work just fine. It's just not as easy to fine tune the opening rate on those huge pull-offs as they tend to delay slightly as you start to get them opening quickly.
The straight inlet front pull-offs are easier to modify, and the carb is more compact without the huge rear pull-off hanging off the back of it.
I'd also add here that Edelbrock copied those models and the 850cfm 1910 is patterned almost directly from them with a few minor calibration changes and the airdoor opening a little further to give it the "850" cfm rating.......
