Comments on sonic cleaner...
« on: April 07, 2025, 12:03:27 PM »
So, I've heard for somewhile about sonic cleaners and I'm thinking I may just have to get one. I've never used one and I'm wondering if the folks that have one have any advice or comments, good or bad. I know that I want one that is heated, but that's about it. I lean towards a U.S. made unit, as I do with most things. Foreign wouldn't be a deal breaker, though.
I seem to recall reading somewhere that vibration frequency is important, as too high can actually cause damage. Probably the biggest item I'll want to clean is a carburetor, but maybe a little larger than that would be better.
What works for you? What doesn't? What would you do differently if you had to go buy another one today? What should I expect to pay for a decent cleaner?
Thanks for any input.

if buying a cheap one, i always boil the water before hand. when i bought mine 8 years ago a lot of the reviews said the heater burned out. one of the reviews said to boil the water first so leas run time on the heater. I have done this and haven't burned mine out yet. i also thought of getting a fish tank heater if i was using mine more regularly.I would also get a bigger one, I think the one i have is 11L and was all i could afford at the time. I also opted to get mine with analog controls (chinese unit) this was I can replace the timer or heater dial easily.

I think about the only good thing about the one I bought is the heater. Doesn't have much cleaning power. I don't know the brand but I bought it off of EvilBay.

…I used a large lower end unit and was never thrilled with it. When it finally failed, I moved on to using a large pot on my Coleman stove and finish it with a Harbor Freight bench top soda media blast cabinet.Soda media washes away easily and air compressor dries every passageway. They come out looking excellent.
