Need help identifying this one
« on: November 15, 2025, 09:19:20 AM »
Hello all, need some help identifying what quadrajet this is. This carb came with a 1970 Olds W-30 4 speed I purchased, car was non running.  This car doesn’t have the original engine in it so I didn’t expect it to have the rare 7040256 on it but this carb looks like it’s been messed with seeing as though the numbers are ground down. It looks like 7055041 or possibly 17055041, hard to tell since someone took a grinder to it and it doesn’t clean up any better than this with carb cleaner and a brush. Inside it has 72 jets, 47B rods, R hanger and CE rods
The casting numbers for the top is 7040728, main body 7042305, base 7029025 with a bigger 73 next to it. Also it has 7/32 holes in the throttle plates and some kind of baffle on one of the secondary air flaps I’ve never seen on a qjet before
