Swapping throttle shafts
« on: January 20, 2011, 11:11:03 AM »
In scouring the likes of eBay for suitable Q-jets, many don't have or have odd throttle lever attachments. Is it possible, in the course of rebuilding a carb, to swap out the throttle shaft with one having more suitable throttle and kickdown attachments?

Are the primary shafts universal with regard to diameter, throttle blade slotting and blade spacing?

Are the choke-side ends all the same?

Thanks,

Mike

Most late model shafts are the same length and interchange, except for the CC models, which have a larger hole for the link up to the accl pump.

Most Chevy models are pretty generous with hook up points for the throttle cable, and kick-down for the trans, return spring, etc......Cliff
