Is clip mandatory on needle ?

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere (probably here ?) that you can ommit installing the clip that holds the needle to the float.  Is it true it will help keep the fuel in the carb longer when the car is stopped ?  Frank.

The clip on the needle is not needed.  The only purpose for using it would be to lift the needle off the seat as the float drops after shutdown (fuel evaporating from the bowl).  The needle is not likely to get stuck to the seat.

I haven't seen any problems with this in decades, especially with this new reformulated gasoline, it just doesn't stick around long, or leave all that sticky "varnish" in the carb bowl when it dries up.

I haven't had a clip on the needle in my own carb for at least 20 years, zero issues anyplace, and it sees pretty long periods of sitting without being used.....Cliff
