What is the plastic part here called? I would like to find one that is in cleaner condition than the one I have.

James,
That is your fast idle cam. Let me see if I can find one. Cliff may have them in stock. Idk.
-
Thanks Bud.
-
I can't find one anywhere online. I may have to check my parts bin.
-
Yeah I looked around also but I was searching for other descriptions. I didn't find anything. No pictures of the part either, based on searching the Carb number, or application..
-
Well, James, none here. :( All I have are steel ones. There are a couple of 68-69 Olds on eBay right now, but not sure if they would be correct. Hmmmm.... Try contacting Mr. Pontiac on here. You just may be in luck! Let me know what you find out bud.

Thanks Ethan-
Coincidentally, I had asked him already.
I'll keep looking.
-
Darn. I will keep looking and asking, too.

What about this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/NOS-1968-69-All-Oldsmobile-442-Cutlass-Toronado-4-BC-Quadrajet-Fast-Idle-Cam-/232219075450?hash=item361155e37a:g:QE8AAOSwo4pYivuY&vxp=mtr

Those are very difficult to find in good shape. 99 percent of them will be cracked, melted, or in poor overall condition.
You are lucky to have one as nice as that one is. They also made at least 35 different part numbers, and they are color coded per application, which makes finding the right one nearly impossible.
They also don't work nearly as well as the later metal variety, which I prefer to use here instead of the plastic ones, unless we are doing a show quality restoration......Cliff

James;
What's the part number on yours?
I believe I have one or two in my stash of small bits - I can see if I have one.

Cliff, would Ultrasonic Cleaning hurt it or would 122 degrees deform it? I could put it in my tank and see how well it cleans up?
-
Don't know, I clean them with a toothbrush instead and epoxy the cracks if/as needed. IF they are not in good shape most of the time we install the metal ones instead, they work better anyhow......Cliff

This one worked well on the dyno where the carb you built and put it on made 470Hp with 670 heads...
This is purely a cosmetic thing. This one is not bad at all, just not as nice as the rest of the carb..

Unruhjonny it has 3223 stamped on it.
-
If, Jon, doesn't have one, you just may have to go with Jon Hardgrove. Unless you don't mind waiting. ;)

That is not the correct one anyways. The one you want is part number ***3893.

James,
Contact Carb Junkys with photos of front and back and description of fast idle cam. I think they might have what you need. :D

Something to think about, i am about 85% sure the the choke pull off bracket are differant on 67,s they have what i call teeth style with if you want it 100% correct. I believe the one pictured is wrong!!
