I had it here on my bench but got thrown in with other parts from carbs. So what does it look like and proper metering rods should be what size???

It is a short spring and not a lot of coils. If you have one of our spring kits it is the orange spring from the kit. I don't have a listing for what jets and rods went into that carb number but I usually free up the APT system when I build those and install jets and metering rods matched for the application......Cliff

704 casting should be the pin style, With the apt adjustment in the baseplate. If the adjustment is through the air horn, it should be the pin-less style.

Correct, the 7041250 uses the early APT system with a "post" on the bottom of the power piston and adjustment is made with the screw in the baseplate located under a cover between the mixture screws.
It will be loctited in place and often difficult to remove. We make an external APT screw for those with a spring on it so it will hold it's adjustments if you are trying to use it like a later model APT unit......Cliff
