My odyssey to build one complete and working carb continues. The last carb I have purchased has a good base plate BUT the PO removed the brass plug.Where would I find one of these plugs on the cheap?
Sorry it took so long. Pic is not my carb but the hole at the bottom is like mine and needs a replacement plug bolt whatever went there.I appreciate you guys ticking with me. I have yet to even start to rebuild a carb and I now own three. I have wasted over $700 where I could have/should have bought the 68 Manual NOS for $500. I am not even sure if I can cobble together one working carb from the two I have since I continue to find broken/missing pieces.
Thank you. Now I have options.A very dub question. Do we insert the plug by itself or does it require some tape or some sort of sealing goo ?
ethan just want to add a few things. if the housing has small hairline cracks from being over tightened( which i have seen a lot of )remember the pipe plug is tapered . the harder you crank it in the more it expands the housing. i like to use loctite instant gasket. just a small amount on a few threads. it screws in easy and seals good. also easy to remove next time. hope this helps.
