You said you wanted to use the stock '63 valve covers and PCV.  But isn't the '63s PCV just a vent from the back of the intake to the air cleaner? That what my '65 Impala 283 had back in the day.

I'm asking because don't Qjets require a "modern" PCV connected to the base plate in order to operate properly?
