Rebuilt Qjet on a AMC 304
« on: February 29, 2012, 09:03:24 AM »
Hello all! just found these boards and am wishing i would have done so sooner!!

I have 73 CJ-5 with a AMC 304 in it. I have recently just acquired a qjet for it. It is a 17057504 which looks to be a 77 off of a 350 vette/nova.

The PO of the carb put new jets and rods in 71/50M. The secondiaries are still the stock CH.

Im curious if any here has run a q-jet on an AMC 304, and if so what setup as far as jets and rods are you using? Or does anyone at least have an idea of where i should start?

Im thinking of keeping the 50M rods and perhaps jetting down one size to a 70. is this a good direction? am i way off?

this is not a daily driver, just for joy rides around town and mostly mudding and crawling. Also at around 3500ft elevation, have headers and HEI dizzy.

any help will be greatly appreciated.

"M" series rods are incorrect for that carburetor number.  They were used on the 1979 and later single main airbleed models.

Unless the carburetor has has significant modifications, it will be WAY too lean with the jet/rod combo listed.

If you want the correct parts for it, call the shop......Cliff
