carb advice please
« on: June 04, 2013, 04:09:40 PM »

Looks like a fine carb to me. For your cam you'll need to richen up the idle circuit a bit, and it'd probably be wise to re-calibrate it with some advise from cliff on jetting. I'm not sure if that's a single MAB or dual MAB carburetor.

Thanks Shark. I am hoping to be directed on what parts to use as this is new to me. Also when I buy the kit does it come with directions or is the book good enough?

Cliff's kit will come with a few sheets of info on basic procedures. Get Cliff on the phone and he'll be able to give you good advice on parts.

I took the carb apart and I dont know how the secondary holes come out ? It looks like one is out of round.  Do you do it with a sckew and pull them out ?

Do you mean the secondary jets - at the rear of the float bowl?

the little discs in the back of the fuel bowl should be about .135 they do not come out .( im not saying you can take them out) leave them in. some times one will be a little out of round from the metering rods flopping around. they are not intended to seal .they just control the amount of fuel the 4 barrel gets , depending on the rod size and hanger length and secondary air flap opening .i hope im not confusing you .

Thanks for input.  That was my worry one of the holes is out of round. The hanger looks bent. I'll buy a new one (hanger)when I buy the kit. It sounds like it should be ok because the truck will be a daily driver.

Hello,  I am going to buy all the parts I need from this site because of all the support I am recieving. So far I have tore down and cleaned most of this carb but how do I replace that disc (secondary)?

The disks go in first, then you drive a retainer in over them.  Pretty easy install.....Cliff

Hello,  Is it just a matter of prying the old ones out or is there a special way to get them out?

I used a 2inch 10-32 and a slide hammer and out they popped right out.
now to get my list of parts together.
